George Stubbs

All of these wonderful prints (and more) are tied together in a book titled "Anatomy of the Horse" by George Stubbs, a very good book for any artist trying to understand the equus cavallus inside out.

Hexvessel - Invocation summoning

Invocation summoning
My blood-fuse lit right up
Conjuring the operation
I saw the singing veins of god

Mountains of leaking arks
Slowly yawning in the dark
The black corridor opens
And smoke rose from the
Serpents throat

Angels of the seventh house
I raise the cup of blessed blood
virgin wax and sacred earth
In the name of the holy ghost

For thou shall wash and purge me
Appear within the circle
Answer to those who bid thee
Obey your ritual command

Henri Rousseau

"We salute you Gentle Rousseau you can hear us.
Delaunay, his wife, Monsieur Queval and myself.
Let our luggage pass duty free through the gates of heaven.
We will bring you brushes paints and canvas.
That you may spend your sacred leisure in the light and Truth of Painting.
As you once did my portrait facing the stars, lion and the gypsy."

Chris Peters

In each of my paintings, I am trying to find the beauty in that uneasy twilight place between life and death, between reality and unreality, between self and what writer H.P. Lovecraft called "the others". -Chris Peters
